The purpose of the ranking is to support the available of open access for anyone in order to make it free access for scientific publications in electronic form and other academic materials of the university. The universities are expected to be able publish the scientific work that has been gathered in a scientific repository to facilitate and expand the access for the research and idea of the university.
Ranking Web of Repositories is the initiative of Cybermetrics Lab. The Cybermetrics Lab itself is a research group by Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC) which is the biggest public research institution in Spain. In 2006, CSIC consisted of 126 centers and institutions which were distributed in all around Spain. CSIC was found in 1939 from the previous institution named Junta para la Ampliación de Estudios e Investigaciones Cientificas in 1907 under Spainish Nobel Prof Ramón y Cajal. The laboratory is located in Centro de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales (CCHS). It was started to operate in 2007 and was incorporation in one different center and institution which was devoted for Social Sciences and Humanities CSIC in Madrid.
The institution promotes the web publications as the communication way of the formal and informal materials and maintains high quality standard from peer review process. Website reaches the bigger potential audients, offers the access of science for the researcher and institutional located in development countries and also the third party (economy, industry, politics, or stakeholder culture) in their own community.
Moreover, the institution has purpose to motivate the university and graduates to have website whichreveals their activity accurately. If the performance is below the expectation as their academic superiority, the authorities need to reconsider their web institution policy, promote the improvement of substation and electronic publication quality.
By this result, UMM at least has taken a part to support the open access to provide scientific content which is published through website. The free access publication shows the UMM commitment in educating humans in everywhere.  (Infokom UMM/t_iqa)
